Most of these links go to reviews at Hearts and Minds Bookstore.  The review for the book in question is usually hidden somewhere in the middle of the post, but I would highly recommend reading the reviews and buying books from this vendor.  While the prices might be a couple of dollars higher than you’ll find on Amazon, the mission of this bookstore is to forge links between faith and other disciplines, and the people there are so helpful and knowledgeable.

Walking on Water: Reflections on Faith and Art
Madeleine L’Engle

Resounding Truth: Christian Wisdom in the World of Music
Jeremy Begbie

This is, bar none, the best book on a serious theology of music.  It discusses music of various sorts, and isn’t about church music only, but it is a major contribution to our thinking about culture, the arts, music and faith.   John Witvliet of the Calvin Institute of Worship says it is “charged with energy and insight” and “the best musical thinking about theology and the best theological thinking about music.”  Amazingly profound, highly recommended.  ~ Byron Borger, Hearts and Minds Books

Art for God’s Sake: A Call to Recover the Arts
Philip Ryken

Theology, Music and Time
Jeremy Begbie

Rainbows for the Fallen World
Calvin Seerveld
